My Left Foot
Drama103 min
Daniel Day-Lewis is Christy Brown, born with cerebral palsy into a working-class Irish family that assumes he will never be able to express himself. When a childhood breakthrough reveals he can control his left foot, Christy begins to claim a voice of his own, first with chalk and later through painting and writing. At the center of it is his mother (Brenda Fricker), who refuses to let him be dismissed or hidden away. Moving between childhood and adulthood, the film traces Christy’s fight for recognition inside a crowded family life shaped by poverty, pride, and stubborn resolve.
