BlackBerry

ComedyDocumentaryDrama120 min

In 1990s Canada, shy engineer Mike Lazaridis and his friend Doug Fregin are building a handheld device when hard-driving executive Jim Balsillie muscles into the company and changes its future. Jay Baruchel is Mike, the technical mind behind what becomes the BlackBerry, while Glenn Howerton’s Balsillie pushes the business toward a global boom. The film follows the company’s sprint from scrappy startup to first-smartphone phenomenon, then into the pressure, ego, and corporate brinkmanship that come with moving faster than the market around them.
