The Way Back

ActionAdventureDrama133 min

A small band of prisoners escapes a WWII-era Siberian gulag and sets out on foot across the Soviet Union, beginning a desperate trek through five countries toward freedom in India. Jim Sturgess is among the men trying to hold the group together, with Ed Harris in the mix as the escape turns into a test of endurance. Rather than stopping at the breakout, the film follows the long aftermath: the distance from the camp, the shifting trust inside the group, and the day-by-day grind of staying alive as they keep moving south.
