Violet Evergarden: The Movie

AnimationAnimeDramaFantasyRomance140 min

Yui Ishikawa is Violet Evergarden, a former child soldier now working as a ghostwriter in a world slowly rebuilding after war. As telephones and other new technology begin to change daily life, Violet continues writing letters for strangers while holding on to one private hope: that her lost commanding officer, Major Gilbert Bougainvillea (Daisuke Namikawa), is still alive somewhere. A new request from a young client and an undelivered letter draw her back to the words Gilbert left her and the feelings she still struggles to name. The film returns to Violet’s postwar life with intimate correspondence, unresolved longing, and lives still marked by conflict.
