Two Eastern European criminals arrive in New York to collect their share of a heist, then start filming their own crimes when they realize tabloid TV can turn murder into celebrity. Robert De Niro is Eddie Flemming, a media-savvy NYPD homicide detective, while Edward Burns’s fire marshal Jordy Warsaw is pulled into the case after a brutal killing and arson attack. As the pair track the killers through a city of news vans, crime scenes, and cameras, the investigation gets tangled up with a television culture that rewards spectacle almost as much as justice.
