Giselle, a storybook princess banished by an evil queen, tumbles out of an animated fairy-tale kingdom and into modern Manhattan, where happily-ever-after rules suddenly don’t apply. Amy Adams is Giselle, arriving with songs, optimism, and unwavering faith in true love. Patrick Dempsey’s Robert, a divorce lawyer who comes to her aid, becomes her link to a city that makes no sense to her — and a complication for the prince waiting back in her old world. Hand-drawn fantasy and live action share the frame as the film flips between fairy-tale logic and New York reality.
