Casanova

ActionAdventureComedyDramaRomance112 min

In 1753 Venice, notorious seducer Giacomo Casanova is finally thrown off balance by a woman who won’t respond to his usual charms. Heath Ledger is the celebrated libertine, already in trouble with the Inquisition after one scandal too many, and Sienna Miller is the sharp young woman who turns his pursuit into something more complicated. Jeremy Irons’s Pucci, a prosecutor intent on making an example of Casanova, closes in as flirtation, disguises, and public reputation begin to collide. Romance and farce run through the film’s version of the famous rake, with courtship unfolding against a busy, pleasure-loving Venice.
