We Have Never Been Modern
DramaMystery117 min
Helena is preparing for motherhood and a comfortable future as the wife of a prominent factory manager when a dead newborn intersex baby is discovered on the factory grounds. Eliška Křenková is Helena, who starts asking questions not as a detective or police officer but as a mother-to-be worried about her own child. As rumor, status, and prejudice shape everyone else’s version of events, she keeps pushing toward the truth. Miloslav König is part of the surrounding factory world in this Czech drama, where the mystery unfolds through domestic fear, social hierarchy, and the blind spots of a society that sees itself as modern.
