Empire Records

ComedyDramaRomance90 min

An indie record store spends one chaotic day fighting for its future as the young clerks behind the counter scramble to keep Empire from being swallowed by a chain. Anthony LaPaglia is Joe, the harried manager trying to hold the place together, while Liv Tyler and Renée Zellweger are among the employees whose crushes, screwups, and loyalties spill into the open. Set in a mid-’90s shop full of CDs, posters, and in-store drama, the film stays with a close-knit staff as work, friendship, and panic blur together over the course of a single very long day.
