The Dissident

CrimeDocumentaryThriller119 min

After Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappears inside Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul, the search for answers expands into a case with global political consequences. Hatice Cengiz, Khashoggi’s fiancée, is one of the central voices as the film follows the aftermath through interviews, reporting, and accounts from Turkish investigators. Omar Abdulaziz, a Saudi dissident living in Quebec, forms a parallel thread that connects Khashoggi’s fate to a broader campaign against critics abroad. The documentary traces how clues were assembled, how officials responded, and how a disappearance in Istanbul reverberated through Washington and beyond.
