Robert McCall has found a sense of home in Southern Italy, until he learns his new friends are living under the thumb of local crime bosses. Denzel Washington is McCall, a former government assassin who steps back into action when intimidation turns deadly and the town’s fear becomes impossible to ignore. Dakota Fanning joins the story in a supporting role as McCall sets himself against the mafia figures tightening their hold on the community. Antoine Fuqua returns to frame the action around narrow streets, close-quarters confrontations, and McCall’s precise, unsentimental way of settling the score.
