In a former mining village in Nottinghamshire, two shocking killings tear open old divisions that never healed after the miners’ strike. As the police hunt for a suspect, neighbors turn on each other, rumors spread, and the investigation exposes a web of grudges, loyalties, and long-buried secrets. Detective Chief Superintendent Ian St Clair, played by David Morrissey, has to work a case where nearly everyone has history with everyone else, and where mistrust of authority runs deep. What starts as a murder inquiry grows into a portrait of a community still living with surveillance, political bitterness, and the damage left by events decades earlier.
