After the FBI sends their mobster husbands to prison, three Hell’s Kitchen wives take over the Irish mob’s business in 1978 New York. Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish lead the trio as the women move from the margins of the neighborhood’s power structure to running its rackets themselves. What begins with collecting money and keeping operations moving soon turns into a fight over territory, loyalty, and who gets to hold the line in a changing criminal order. Set in late-1970s Manhattan, the film shifts between domestic pressure and street-level violence as the women prove they can do more than stand behind the men.
