Frankie and Johnny

ComedyDramaRomance118 min

Fresh out of prison on a forgery charge, Johnny lands a job as a short-order cook in a New York diner and soon fixes his attention on Frankie, a waitress who keeps her life tightly guarded. Al Pacino is Johnny, restless and talkative from the moment he arrives; Michelle Pfeiffer’s Frankie meets his forward charm with caution. After a brief fling with fellow waitress Cora, Johnny keeps pursuing Frankie through late shifts, crowded counters, and after-hours conversations, while Frankie's friend Tim nudges her to give him a chance. The diner’s busy, close-quarters world keeps their push and pull in constant view.
