After the death of their infant son, a grieving couple retreat to their cabin, “Eden,” in the woods, hoping distance will steady a marriage already starting to fracture. Willem Dafoe is the husband, a therapist who tries to guide his wife (Charlotte Gainsbourg) through her panic and grief, but the isolation turns punitive as blame, desire, and fear begin to overtake them. Directed by Lars von Trier, the film keeps its focus almost entirely on the pair as the forest around them grows stranger and more threatening.
