The Babadook

DramaHorrorMystery94 min

After an eerie children’s book appears in the house, a grieving single mother begins to suspect that the monster in its pages has followed her home. Essie Davis is the widowed parent, already worn down by loss and sleepless nights, while Noah Wiseman is her young son, whose fear of a presence in the house keeps pushing their fragile routine further off balance. As the book keeps resurfacing and the threat feels harder to contain, ordinary rooms take on a menacing shape. Jennifer Kent’s film keeps the horror close to home, building from storybook images, exhaustion, and a mother and child trapped together in dread.
