Annie has spent her childhood in an orphanage ruled by Carol Burnett’s mean Miss Hannigan, convinced her parents left her there by mistake and will someday return. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks brings one orphan to his mansion as a public-relations gesture, Aileen Quinn is Annie, the redheaded kid who suddenly finds herself in a world far removed from the orphanage. Albert Finney’s Warbucks takes to her quickly, but Annie is still focused on the family she knows only through a locket. Once Warbucks announces a reward and a public search for her parents, the story opens the door to a parade of frauds and schemes.
