The Buddy Holly Story

Drama114 min

Buddy Holly leaves Lubbock, Texas, determined to make rock ’n’ roll on his own terms, even as record men in 1950s Nashville try to smooth out the sound that made him stand out. Gary Busey is Holly, following the singer’s rise with the Crickets from local gigs to hit records and a major Apollo Theater booking made under the assumption the band was Black. Don Stroud and Charles Martin Smith fill out the group as Holly’s success grows, the band dynamic shifts, and a young musician who started in West Texas moves into national fame.
