After a burglar breaks into his home, family man Wade Porter is convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sent into California’s prison system. Stephen Dorff is Wade, a husband and father whose life narrows to cells, yard politics, and the constant threat of violence. Inside, he’s assigned to a cell with Val Kilmer’s hardened lifer, a man who understands the rules that actually govern the block. As Wade moves through hearings, transfers, and clashes with guards and other inmates, the film stays close to the routines and pressures of maximum-security prison life, where a single mistake can keep escalating.
