Funny Farm

Comedy101 min

Sportswriter Andy Farmer leaves the city for rural Vermont, convinced a move to the country will give him the peace and quiet to write a novel. Chevy Chase is Andy, heading there with Madolyn Smith Osborne’s schoolteacher wife, Elizabeth, and expecting seclusion; instead, they land in a small town full of eccentric neighbors and constant interruptions. As the Farmers try to settle into their new life, country living becomes a string of mishaps, misunderstandings, and slapstick setbacks. George Roy Hill directs a comedy built around the clash between Andy’s idealized fresh start and the chaos waiting for him there.
