Chris Cole spends his days repairing copy machines in Pennsylvania and his nights fronting a Steel Dragon tribute band, copying every move of his favorite heavy metal singer. When his bandmates throw him out of the group he founded, Mark Wahlberg is Chris at the exact moment an impossible offer arrives: Steel Dragon wants him as its new lead vocalist. Jennifer Aniston’s Emily is the longtime girlfriend watching his fan obsession turn into a shot at arena fame, complete with backstage chaos, big-hair metal theatrics, and the gap between imitation and the real thing. The story is loosely inspired by the rise of a Judas Priest singer.
