Leslie Knope is a relentlessly civic-minded mid-level employee in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana, where a plan to turn an abandoned pit into a public park drags her into neighborhood complaints, city hall red tape, and very local political fights. Amy Poehler's Leslie meets every obstacle with binders, optimism, and an almost devotional love of government. Around her, Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson runs the department with deadpan resistance to government itself, while Rashida Jones brings a bemused outsider’s perspective as nurse Ann Perkins. Shot in a mockumentary style, the series builds its small-town world through public meetings, office rivalries, and municipal absurdity.
