Broadway Danny Rose
ComedyDrama84 min
Woody Allen is Danny Rose, a small-time Manhattan talent manager whose roster is packed with novelty acts, including a one-legged tap dancer, and one client with an actual shot at a comeback: washed-up lounge singer Lou Canova. When Lou’s career starts to rebound, Danny agrees to help with a personal complication and gets pulled into a love triangle with mob ties. Nick Apollo Forte’s Lou brings old-school nightclub swagger, and Mia Farrow shows up as the singer’s volatile girlfriend. Framed as a story swapped among comedians over lunch at Carnegie Deli, the film keeps one foot in backstage farce and the other in New York show-business folklore.
