The Beverly Hillbillies
ComedyFamily93 min
After oil is discovered on his Arkansas property, Jed Clampett uproots his cash-poor family for Beverly Hills, where their new fortune puts them in the path of bankers, socialites, and anyone eager to cash in. Jim Varney is Jed, a plainspoken patriarch trying to make sense of sudden wealth without changing much about himself. Cloris Leachman’s Granny meets California with suspicion and a shotgun-toting attitude, while Erika Eleniak’s Elly May becomes an instant curiosity in their polished new neighborhood. The comedy comes from the Clampetts carrying their country habits straight into Beverly Hills luxury.
