Still single years after his divorce, John C. Reilly is John, a lonely divorcé who unexpectedly hits it off with Molly at a party thrown by his ex-wife. The relationship moves quickly until John discovers the complication Molly has been sidestepping: her adult son, Cyrus (Jonah Hill), a 21-year-old new age musician whose bond with his mother leaves little room for anyone else. In contemporary Los Angeles, what starts as a promising romance turns into an awkward territorial contest, with John trying to build a future with Molly while Cyrus works to keep their two-person world intact.
