The Light Between Oceans

DramaRomance133 min

In 1920s Western Australia, Michael Fassbender is Tom Sherbourne, a World War I veteran who takes a job as lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. When Tom marries Alicia Vikander’s Isabel and brings her to the island, their life is shaped by distance, routine, and the strain of repeated loss. Then a rowboat drifts ashore with a baby inside, and the child becomes the center of a decision that reaches far beyond the lighthouse. Against the wind and wide ocean views, the story stays close to Tom and Isabel’s marriage, and to the private cost of building a family in a place cut off from the mainland.
