In a 1930s Italian seaside town under fascism, teenager Titta bounces between schoolyard trouble, clashes at home, and the parade of eccentrics who fill the streets around him. Federico Fellini’s semi-autobiographical film tracks his adolescence through family arguments, Catholic ritual, political spectacle, sexual curiosity, and moments that slip from ordinary memory into fantasy. Bruno Zanin stands at the center of the swirl, with Pupella Maggio among the family figures shaping Titta’s days. Priests, loyalists, relatives, and the town’s larger-than-life women crowd the frame as provincial routine turns strange, comic, and surreal.
