The Fan

ActionAdventureDramaThriller116 min

Gil Renard thinks of himself as the San Francisco Giants’ number one fan, and nobody is more invested in new star Bobby Rayburn than he is. Robert De Niro is Gil, whose devotion turns obsessive when Wesley Snipes’s Rayburn arrives on a $40 million contract and then sinks into the worst slump of his career. What starts as sports-radio outrage and ballpark worship grows into stalking, intimidation, and violence as Gil decides he knows exactly what Bobby needs to get back on track. Baseball celebrity, fan entitlement, and a crumbling boundary between public hero and private life drive the story.
