In a Lonely Place

CrimeDramaMysteryRomanceThriller94 min

When Hollywood screenwriter Dixon Steele becomes the prime suspect in a murder, the one person who can clear him is the neighbor across the courtyard. Humphrey Bogart is Steele, talented, quick-tempered, and increasingly hard to trust; Gloria Grahame's Laurel Gray starts as his alibi and becomes his lover, even as the police keep circling back to him. In 1950s Hollywood, their romance unfolds under the pressure of the investigation, with Steele's volatility turning every argument and every new detail into another reason for doubt.
