When Dick's employer collapses and takes his savings with it, he and his wife Jane watch their comfortable middle-class life fall apart fast. Bills pile up, their status disappears, and every attempt to get back on their feet turns into another humiliation. As the pressure at home grows, the couple stop playing by the rules and start looking for money wherever they can find it. What begins as desperation turns into a string of robberies, with Dick and Jane improvising their way through crimes they were never meant to commit. Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni play the spouses as panic, pride, and bad ideas keep pushing them further.
