Stuck sharing a telephone party line with her womanizing neighbor, interior decorator Jan Morrow wants nothing to do with him until he turns up in a very different guise. Doris Day’s Jan is exasperated by Brad Allen, a breezy songwriter whose late-night calls and constant romances spill straight into her apartment; Rock Hudson is the smooth voice on the other end of the line. After Jan’s complaint gets her nowhere, Brad tries to win her over by posing as a sincere Texas rancher. Their mutual friend Jonathan (Tony Randall) complicates matters when he realizes he’s interested in Jan too.
