In 1991 Madrid, Verónica is a teenager juggling school and caring for her younger siblings when a séance during a solar eclipse leaves her convinced something has followed her home. Sandra Escacena is Verónica, whose attempt to contact her dead father with a Ouija board quickly gives way to strange noises, bruises, and mounting fear inside the family apartment. As the presence seems to close in on the children as well, she turns to Sister Narcisa (Ana Torrent), a nun who may understand more than the adults around her. Spanish Catholic imagery and cramped domestic spaces shape the film’s supernatural menace.
