Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
ComedyDramaWar95 min
When a deranged U.S. general orders a nuclear strike on the Soviet Union, politicians, military chiefs, and a Soviet ambassador scramble in the war room to stop a catastrophe already in motion. Stanley Kubrick stages the crisis as razor-dry satire, cutting between command centers, bomber crews, and diplomatic panic. Peter Sellers takes on three roles at once: RAF officer Lionel Mandrake, President Merkin Muffley, and the wheelchair-bound Dr. Strangelove, a presidential adviser with a Nazi past. Sterling Hayden’s Gen. Jack D. Ripper sets the chain reaction off, while George C. Scott charges through the war room as the blustering Buck Turgidson.
