Closet Monster

DramaFantasyMystery90 min

Creative, closeted teenager Oscar wants out of his small town, where a violent childhood memory still shadows his days and his body seems to revolt against everything he keeps buried. Connor Jessup is Oscar, drifting toward adulthood while working a dead-end job and edging toward the possibility of a different life after meeting an attractive new co-worker. Stephen Dunn threads Oscar’s story with surreal, sometimes grotesque imagery, including the counsel of his pet hamster Buffy, voiced by Isabella Rossellini, as old fear, bullying, and desire press in at once.
