In 1988 Chile, a national plebiscite gives voters a rare chance to decide whether Augusto Pinochet will remain in power, and opposition leaders recruit ad executive René Saavedra to shape the “No” campaign. Gael García Bernal is René, a polished marketer asked to sell democracy with the same tools used to sell soda and soap. Working with limited resources and under the regime’s scrutiny, he and his team build a television campaign out of jingles, bright images, and carefully managed optimism while the threat behind the vote never disappears.
