Martin Bishop is a reformed hacker who now makes his living testing security systems with a tight-knit team of specialists. When shadowy U.S. intelligence agents blackmail him into stealing a mysterious black box from a Soviet-funded genius, Robert Redford’s Martin takes what looks like a covert job and finds a much larger scheme behind it. Around him are Sidney Poitier’s wary former CIA man, River Phoenix’s young computer prodigy, and David Strathairn as the blind audio expert whose ears catch what others miss. The setup mixes espionage, old secrets, and high-stakes codebreaking with a nimble heist story.
