The Frighteners

ComedyDramaFantasyHorrorRomance110 min

After a car accident leaves him able to see and talk to ghosts, widower Frank Bannister turns his small-town haunting problem into a business, charging locals to “exorcise” spirits he already knows. Michael J. Fox is Frank, a onetime architect whose con starts to unravel when a string of deaths points to something far worse than a scam. As Frank investigates, he’s drawn to the widow of one victim, played by Trini Alvarado, while Jeffrey Combs barrels in as an unstable FBI agent. Peter Jackson threads graveyard humor through a murder mystery full of restless spirits, funeral homes, and a looming supernatural figure.
