In the hours around Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 victory rally at Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel, staff and guests move through a single crowded night: a retired doorman, a hotel manager, a lounge singer, a busboy, a beautician, and others whose lives briefly intersect. Anthony Hopkins and Laurence Fishburne are among the many faces in the ensemble as the film tracks these parallel stories against the noise of a presidential campaign. Their separate routines and personal dramas unfold in the shadow of the shooting that will make the hotel part of American history.
