On the Basis of Sex

Drama120 min

After Harvard Law School, young attorney and new mother Ruth Bader Ginsburg struggles to find her footing in a profession stacked against her. Felicity Jones is Ruth, who sees a chance to challenge the law itself when she takes on a case arguing that sex discrimination harms men as well as women. Working alongside Armie Hammer’s Marty Ginsburg, her husband and legal partner, she builds an appeal that heads to the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1970s America. The film follows the early fight that put Ginsburg’s legal strategy, marriage, and ambition under the same pressure.
