After a period away, 48-year-old Alain Evrard returns to live with his mother, reopening years of anger and humiliation between them. Vincent Lindon is Alain, a man whose guarded manner meets its match in Hélène Vincent’s unsparing mother. When he learns she has a fatal illness, their forced proximity narrows into shared meals, medical appointments, and conversations that keep slipping back into old wounds.
