When elderly widow Edna vanishes from the family’s remote home, her daughter Kay returns with her own daughter, Sam, and finds signs of Edna’s increasing dementia scattered through the house. Emily Mortimer is Kay, trying to make sense of a mother who reappears as abruptly as she disappeared, while Robyn Nevin’s Edna seems increasingly out of step with the rooms around her. Bella Heathcote rounds out the three generations as Sam. As the women settle back into the decaying house, with its peeling walls, spreading mold, and surrounding woods, family unease starts to blur with something harder to explain.
