The Martian

ActionAdventureDramaSci-Fi144 min

After a storm forces an emergency evacuation on Mars, astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead and left behind by his crew. Matt Damon is Watney, a botanist who has to stretch meager supplies, improvise ways to survive, and somehow signal Earth from millions of miles away. Back home, NASA races to understand what happened and whether contact is still possible, with Jessica Chastain and Chiwetel Ejiofor among the people pulled into the effort. Ridley Scott keeps the focus on problem-solving under pressure, splitting the story between one man alone on a hostile planet and the machinery trying to reach him.
