The Kashmir Files

Drama170 min

In 1990s Kashmir, the forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley drives this Hindi drama, tracing the violence, displacement and upheaval that push a religious minority from their homes. Anupam Kher is one of the film’s central faces, with Mithun Chakraborty part of a large ensemble that moves between private grief and public confrontation. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the story ties personal trauma to arguments over religion, politics and democracy, focusing on how a community’s losses are carried forward and contested in the years after the initial bloodshed.
