Deconstructing Harry

ComedyDrama96 min

Woody Allen is Harry Block, a successful writer whose stories draw so heavily from his own life that ex-lovers, relatives, and friends keep recognizing themselves on the page. As writer’s block sets in and an award ceremony approaches, Harry moves through memories, arguments, and scenes from his own fiction, with the film slipping back and forth between lived experience and invention. Judy Davis and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are part of the crowded circle around him, as Harry’s personal chaos keeps feeding the work that is steadily alienating the people closest to him.
