For the Birds

AnimationComedyFamily4 min

A flock of small birds lines up on a telephone wire, squeezing together and eyeing one another with growing irritation. When a much larger, awkward bird lands nearby and tries to join them, the little clique turns its attention on the outsider instead, mocking him from the safety of their shared perch. Ralph Eggleston’s animated short keeps the setup simple—a wire, a crowd, and one unwelcome arrival—while building the comedy out of body language, pecking-order behavior, and the group’s escalating rudeness.
