American Circumcision

Documentary101 min

American Circumcision examines why non-religious infant circumcision remains routine in the United States while most other industrialized countries do not. Through interviews with doctors, legal advocates, parents, and activists, the film lays out the medical, cultural, religious, and political arguments surrounding the procedure. Marilyn Milos, founder of the intactivist movement, is one of the documentary’s central voices, alongside physician Dean Edell and others who defend or question the practice. The focus stays on the dispute itself: how a common American surgery became a point of conflict over tradition, medicine, consent, and bodily autonomy.
