Former senator Selina Meyer is vice president of the United States, and the job turns out to be exactly the mix of empty ceremony, political backstabbing, and nonstop damage control she was warned about. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is Selina, charging through Washington with an entourage that’s supposed to protect her from embarrassment and usually compounds it. At her side, Tony Hale’s Gary is an intensely devoted aide, while the rest of the office lurches from staff feuds to messaging disasters to whatever fresh crisis the day produces. Created by Armando Iannucci, the series keeps its focus on the daily machinery of power and the people trying to survive it.
