Red Persimmon
Drama168 min
After the Communist takeover of mainland China in 1949, refugees and military families arrive at Taiwan’s Keelung Harbor, and one displaced household tries to rebuild in the middle of the upheaval. The father continues secret meetings with other generals, still hoping to recover the land they lost, while life at home narrows to survival and routine. Children keep playing under their grandmother’s watch, and the family turns to a small business as hardship sets in. Shu Tao and Chun Shih are among the central figures in a story that places political upheaval beside the daily work of holding a family together.
