Cinderella
ActionAdventureDramaFamilyFantasyRomance112 min
After her father dies, Ella is left under the control of her stepmother and step-sisters, her place in the house shrinking as the royal court prepares for a ball. Lily James is Ella, holding to kindness even as Cate Blanchett’s Lady Tremaine turns the household against her. A meeting in the woods introduces her to Kit, the prince (Richard Madden), and with help from a fairy godmother, Ella gets one chance to enter palace life. Kenneth Branagh’s live-action retelling keeps the story’s courtly kingdom, pumpkin-to-coach magic, and looming midnight deadline in view.
