Stardust Memories

ComedyDramaRomance89 min

At a retrospective of his films, a weary comic director holes up at the Stardust Hotel and sorts through the romances, admirers, and artistic doubts that fed his work. Woody Allen is the filmmaker at the center, moving between public obligations and private memory as the weekend fills with encounters, complaints, and flashbacks. Charlotte Rampling and Jessica Harper surface in those recollections as sharply different women from his past, with Marie-Christine Barrault also threading through his emotional life. Shot in black and white, the film mixes industry satire with fragments of love story and self-portrait.
